“Fairouz… With our hands we will restore the splendor of Jerusalem” Exhibition at Zawaya Gallery in Damascus

“Fairouz… With Our Hands We Will Restore the Splendor of Jerusalem” exhibition opened on Saturday evening, at Zawaya Gallery in Damascus,  in cooperation with Bidayat Foundation and with the participation of 18 male and female artists.

The 3-day exhibition was accompanied by the presentation of artistic performances from selected songs by the great singer Fairouz.

Director of Bidayat Foundation, Aida Salama, confirmed in a statement to SANA correspondent that art is a form of resistance, so this exhibition, which includes works by eighteen male and female artists, was a tribute to Palestine through the symbolism of Fairouz and her historical presence in our consciences.

Visual artist Nabil Al-Samman said: Today’s exhibition came as a stand in solidarity with our people in the occupied territories, represented by the symbolism of Fairouz, who dedicated much of her work to the Palestinian cause that was not lost.

Meanwhile, visual artist Randa Tuffaha said that participating in an exhibition bearing the name of Fairouz and the city of Jerusalem means a lot, especially since it coincided with what is happening in occupied Palestine, and as Fairouz sang: “We are coming back,” and this is what we are hoping for.
