VIENNA- The “Hands off Syria” group in Vienna, in cooperation with the National Union of Syrian Students in Slovakia and France and the Syrian Expatriates Union in Spain, Italy, Belgium and the Czech Republic ,has called for staging sit-ins on Friday to protest the unfair European sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.
A statement, issued by the group, said that “members from the Syrian communities in Austria, Switzerland and Germany in addition to Arab and Foreign participants will hold rallies protesting the destructive global war being waged on Syria, the cradle of civilizations and religions and the home of peace and fraternity.
The statement urged immediate halting of all forms of aggression against the Syrian people and called for lifting the political and economic sanctions which have badly affected the Syrians’ living and caused great losses.
It also urged all peace-loving peoples of the world to rally and announce their solidarity with Syria as well as their rejection of the unjust sanctions on the country and to help putting an end to the war on the Syrian state.
The statement stressed the need to convey a true image about what is going on in the country to the European society to help it realize that some politicians in Europe and the world are seeking to destroy Syria, the home of the alphabet, science and culture.
Last May, the “Hands off Syria” group called on Austrian media to deal objectively and honestly with Syria events.
