Al-Mikdad, Abdollahian discuss the situation in Gaza

Damascus – The phone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Friday focused on the situation in the region, in the light of events in Gaza Strip.

The two sides hailed the achievements made the steadfast Palestinian resistance in the confrontation of the barbaric Israeli aggression on innocent and defenseless civilians in Gaza, stressing that the sacrifices of the Palestinian people are greatly appreciated by all the peoples who seek freedom and ending hegemony and colonialism.

They reiterated that the Zionist occupation forces’ destruction of tens of thousands of Palestinian homes and their killing of at least 4,500 children and ten thousand innocent civilians represents a crime against humanity and a war crime under international law and international humanitarian law.

Al-Mikdad and Abdollahian condemned the hypocrisy practiced by the Western states, mainly by the United States, which provide Israel with all possible support including weapons, funding and propaganda in addition to the political pressure, pointing out that mobilizing their fleets confirms the double standards of these states and indicates that they don’t have the least humanitarian values.

The two ministers asserted that the Palestinian people, who have been subjected for 75 years to the most criminal types of occupation and oppression and the denial of all their legitimate rights including the right to return have exploded the situation and led to a decisive response by the resistance.

They affirmed that failure to hold the Zionist entity accountable for its crimes has encouraged “Israel” to commit more atrocities and massacres in the occupied territories.

Al-Mikdad and Abdollahian discussed the steps that must be taken to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip and the West Bank, warning of more Israeli crimes with the expansion of the aggression, pointing out that they agreed to continue working with the aim of stopping the Zionist occupation and preventing it from imposing a new Nakba on the Palestinians.
