The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that Gaza has become a cemetery for thousands of Palestinian children, as the Israeli aggression against Gaza Strip continues for the fourth week in a row.
“Gaza has become a hell for everyone. Since the first days of the unprecedented hostilities in Gaza Strip. UNICEF has been frank about the need for an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons and the flow of aid, and like many others, we called for an end to the killing of children.” Agence France-Presse quoted the organization’s spokesman, James Elder, as saying in a press conference in Geneva:
He added: “Our worries about the number of children, who were killed in dozens, then hundreds, and eventually thousands, have been attained in just two weeks. The numbers are horrific. According to what was reported, more than 3,450 children were killed, and this number increases significantly every day,” .
James Elder noted that the threats that Children are exposed are more than bombs and mortar shells, and there are more than a million children in Gaza who also suffer from a water crisis.
The UN official pointed out that the people of Gaza are suffering from a major crisis in obtaining healthy and safe drinking water. Children are drinking salty water, which is the only option at the present, but children unfortunately become ill.
He called for an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons and the opening of all crossings leading to Gaza for safe entering humanitarian aid, including water, food, medical supplies and fuel.
More than 3,500 Palestinian children have been martyred so far since the beginning of the barbaric Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
