Arab Union of Productive Families signs MoU with the Abkhaz Chamber of Industry and Commerce

Sukhum,( ST) – The Arab Union for Productive Families and Crafts and Traditional Industries in Syria and the Abkhaz Chamber of Industry and Commerce signed a MoU to improve the reality of handicrafts in the two countries.

The aim of this MoU is to develop crafts and traditional industries and support young craftsmen in the business sector in Syria and Abkhazia.

The memorandum was signed in the Abkhaz city of Sukhum by the President of the Arab Union of Productive Families, Crafts and Traditional Industries, Muhammad Abdel Basset Al-Qadah, and the President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of the Republic of Abkhazia, Tamela Mertskholava.

According to the memorandum, work will include implementing new methods of craft work and establishing partnerships with multiple Arab and foreign parties concerned with craft work.

The two parties will also implement joint activities with the aim of exchanging experiences, training and qualifying human cadres affiliated with the craft and traditional industries sector in both countries, and exchanging visits, experiences and printed materials, in addition to holding local and international events and participating in various exhibitions and conferences held by both parties.

The memorandum which will last for two years, also stipulated work to exchange statistical data and information on the development of the craft and traditional sector, the government support programs provided, and the announcement of the list of products of designated productive families, with the aim of displaying and exporting them to the Abkhaz Republic.

Al-Qadah confirmed in a statement to SANA’s correspondent that signing the memorandum contributes to the development of handicraft industries in Syria, which are widely appreciated and popular in the foreign market, and strengthens and expands trade and economic relations between the two countries.

It is noteworthy that the Arab Union of Productive Families, Crafts and Traditional Industries, based in Damascus, is affiliated to the Council of Arab Economic Unity in the League of Arab States. In February 2021, it launched the work activities of the Union’s presidency and the regional office during a celebration at the Al-Assad House for Culture and Arts in Damascus.
