Syria’s destiny determined by its people, reiterates al-Miqdad

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister has said Syria’s destiny is in hands of its people and the state’s delegation to the Geneva-2-conference -due to be convened on January 22nd – will abide by the directives of President Bashar al-Assad.

Faisal al-Miqdad’s remark was made in a farewell party held on Sunday on the occasion of the conclusion of the Argentina Ambassador’s mission.

The official news agency quoted al-Miqdad as saying that those who sow terrorism will harvest but killing and destruction in their countries, particularly the United States, Saudi Arabia, France, and other European countries.

He added that these countries allege fighting terrorism while they support it in Syria.

Al-Miqdad underscored that what is going on in Syria is a war against its civilization, history and role in the region.

“After few days we will go to the Geneva-2-conference with the directives of President Bashar al-Assad and we are going to abide by these directives. Since the very beginning we have stressed that we stand by the peaceful solution to what is going on in Syria,” he said.

He hoped that the ambassadors and diplomats in Syria have explained the reality of the events before the public opinion in their countries.

Al-Miqdad handed the ambassador Roberto Awwad a memorial gift in appreciation of his effort to boost cooperation relations between the two countries.

For his part, the Argentinean ambassador said that the stance adopted by his country -since the very beginning of the events in Syria- is based on condemning terrorism, not intervention in internal affairs and not following a double-standard policy.
