Dendi: The Israeli occupation seeks to ignite the entire region by escalating its attacks on Syria and continuing its aggression against Gaza
The Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Permanent Delegation of Syria to the United Nations, Dr. Al-Hakam Dendi affirmed that the Israeli occupation entity continues to seek to ignite the region, by escalating its attacks on Syrian lands, continuing its brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip, and committing hundreds of massacres against the Palestinians.
Dendi said during a Security Council session today on the political and humanitarian issues in Syria: At a time when the world’s attention is directed to the ongoing and dangerous Israeli aggression our region is witnessing today, in which the occupation forces committed dozens of massacres and brutal crimes in Gaza Strip, “Israel” continues to seek igniting the region by escalating its attacks on Syrian territory. “Israel” carried out four attacks on the Damascus and Aleppo international airports within just ten days, which put both airports out of service, threatened the lives of travelers, endangered the safety of civil aviation, and disrupted United Nations humanitarian operations, he clarified.
Dendi called on the Security Council to break its silence, fulfill its responsibilities, condemn these attacks, put an end to them, and hold their perpetrators accountable.
Dendi explained that in conjunction with these Israeli attacks, terrorist organizations continue to commit their crimes against the Syrian people, as on the fifth of this month, with the support of well-known countries, they committed one of the most heinous and bloodiest crimes by targeting a graduation ceremony at the Military Academy in Homs with drones carrying explosive ammunition.
Dendi went on to say that the United States continues its flagrant violations of the unity and territorial integrity of Syria, through its illegal military presence on Syrian territory, and its support for separatist militias in northeastern Syria, which recently bombed two water stations in Deir ez-Zor Governorate using drones.
Dendi pointed out that the United States and the European Union continue to impose unilateral, illegal and inhumane coercive measures on all vital sectors in Syria, targeting the most basic human rights, with the aim of depriving its people of their right to food, health, education, and development, causing them great and inhuman economic and humanitarian suffering.
Dendi stated that, as part of Syria’s efforts to improve the humanitarian situation, it continues to strengthen its cooperation with the United Nations, its agencies, and its programs, including by granting them the necessary approvals to facilitate their work in all parts of Syria. He noted that Syria granted, by a sovereign decision, permission for the United Nations to use three border crossings, and two internal crossings across the lines, which contributes to the continued flow of humanitarian aid to Syrian civilians in need.
Dendi explained that despite the facilities provided by Syria, the entry of humanitarian aid through the Bab al-Hawa crossing was delayed for more than two months, and only one convoy entered from inside the lines, which clearly reveals the truth about the parties behind preventing the Syrian people from obtaining their humanitarian needs.
Dendi pointed out that international efforts are facing a real problem, as the decline in funding has become a major obstacle that threatens the ability of programs and international agencies to fulfill their mandates, as the percentage of funding for the humanitarian response plan so far has reached only 29.3 percent, and there are those who deliberately intend to prolong the critical humanitarian situation in Syria especially after the devastating earthquake last February.
Dendi reiterated that Syria welcomes the return of every Syrian refugee who was forced to leave the country due to the practices of terrorist organizations and the effects of coercive unilateral measures, as it continues to take everything necessary to facilitate the return of the refugees and continues to cooperate and coordinate with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in this regard.
Dendi stressed that the American forces illegally present on Syrian territory bear responsibility for the human suffering in the Rukban camp, which can be ended through closing the camp.
Dendi stressed that overcoming the repercussions of the crisis in Syria requires the availability of sincere political will among some member states of the Security Council, to stop the repeated and systematic Israeli attacks, end the illegal foreign presence on Syrian territory, immediately and unconditionally lift the coercive unilateral measures, and support the efforts of the state and its institutions to improve the humanitarian situation.
In response to the American delegate’s statement, Dendi said: We heard her claims about the so-called “right of self-defense” for her country’s forces in Syrian territory, and it seems that she has forgotten that her forces are illegally present on Syrian territory, and it also seems that Washington gives itself the right to deploy its forces in any place, at any time, without any approval, and in complete violation of international law, under the pretext of combating the terrorist organization (ISIS), which is a 100% American-made product.
Dendi added: I remind the United States’ Ambassador of her country’s history, which is full of black spots, especially in the Middle East region, through the destruction of Iraq under pretexts and lies, and recently the complete and absolute support for the Israeli occupation, as during the past days the United States did not only obstructed the work of the Security Council and prevented it from protecting the Palestinian people, but it rushed to strengthen the Israeli war machine by sending its aircraft carriers to the region and providing Israel with military equipment and advanced military vehicles, in addition to allocating billions of dollars in financial support for “Israel”.
