The Nation Magazine: Western Journalists Have Palestinian Blood on Their Hands

Washington (ST) – Adopting the Israeli narrative, despite its proven falsehood, has been the mainstay of most Western media coverage that contributes to killing the Palestinians in a manner no less brutal and bloody than what Israel is committing, according to the Palestinian writer and journalist Mohammed El-Kurd.

El-Kurd said in an article published by the American magazine “The Nation” said that the attempts to draw a condemnation of Al-Aqsa Flood operation and impose the Israeli narrative regarding it, is considered a major condition for journalists in many Western media outlets to conduct their interviews with any figure who could have a neutral or supportive position for the Palestinians.

If the guest does not submit to the obligations first, then he is not qualified in the eyes of the Western media to express an opinion and is not allowed to talk about Israel’s crimes, or to report even some facts about what is happening in Gaza.

One of the examples that El-Kurd gave is the interview conducted by the Palestine Authority’s ambassador to the UK, Husam Zomlot, with Kirsty Wark of the BBC, who coldly ignored what he said about the martyrdom of six of his family members, most of them children, in an Israeli bombing a few hours before he conducted the interview. All her focus was limited to obtaining a condemnation from him of Al-Aqsa Flood operation and what happened on the seventh of this October.

Zomlot’s family had fallen victim to the Israeli military operation that has dropped more bombs on the tiny, densely populated Gaza Strip in less than one week than the United States dropped on Afghanistan in an entire year. The latter is 1,800 times bigger than Gaza.

Wark’s response to Zomlot’s horrifying loss isn’t merely callous. It reveals a troubling phenomenon in the mainstream media: The industry standard is to dehumanize Palestinians, and to portray Israel as a victim instead of the perpetrator, El-Kurd pointed out.

The absence of news of the martyrdom of Palestinians from the main headlines in newspapers and television broadcast channels in the West, and the transformation of their suffering and death into a secondary matter of insignificant importance, is completely intentional, and in this context it is entirely in the interest and support of Israel, he clarified

He stressed that every Western journalist participating in this tragedy have the blood of innocent Palestinians on their hands, just as the Israeli killer.
