Pope Francis calls for a ceasefire in Gaza

Today, Pope Francis called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The Pope said in his Sunday sermon in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican: “No one should give up on the possibility of stopping the weapons. No one should give up on the possibility of a ceasefire. Let the shooting stop.”

He added: In Gaza in particular, there must be room to guarantee humanitarian aid.

A few days ago, Pope Francis called for the need to continue bringing humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip, expressing his sadness over the Israeli occupation’s bombing of hospitals and churches in the Strip.
