Dandi: Syria votes in favor of resolution urging immediate humanitarian truce in Gaza, but has reservations about some phrases in the resolution that equal between the occupation and the defenseless Palestinian people

The United Nations General Assembly on Friday adopted a resolution calling for an “immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce” in Gaza and demanding a “sufficient and unhindered” provision of lifesaving supplies and services for civilians trapped inside the Strip.

120 states voted in favor of the resolution, 14 voted against and 45 abstained from voting.

The Acting Charge de’ Affairs of the Syrian delegation to the UN Al-Hakam Dandi said in a statement after the voting that Syria has voted in favor of the draft resolution that aims to stop the Israeli brutal war on the Palestinian people, but has had reservations about some phrases in the resolutions that equal between the occupation and the defenseless Palestinian people.

“During our meeting now, there is news saying that “Israel” has already begun a ground aggression against the Gaza Strip, which will, of course, leave a big number of civilian casualties that no human being can imagine. “Israel” has even cut off communications and the Internet from the Gaza Strip in with the aim of hiding its brutal crimes against the brotherly Palestinian people, Dandi also said.

He asked how the Western countries, especially the United States, which has smashed our heads with human rights, will justify all these crimes, stressing that this barbaric aggression cannot be justified in any way under the pretext of what Western countries falsely and slanderously call “the right to self-defense.”

Dandi clarified that “the world is tired of the lies and hypocrisy practiced by some Western countries. Today, the bloody Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip continues for the 21st day, and the Israeli massacres have reached an unimaginable extent, as “Israel”, in this aggression, intentionally killed more than 7,000 Palestinians, most of them children and women. It also bombed the Al-Mamadani “Baptist” Hospital and the Church of St. Porphyrius, and targeted homes, journalists, doctors, engineers, students, and even United Nations employees”.

He reiterated Syria’s full support for the Palestinian people and their right to establish their independent state with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.
