Chinese diplomat: Security Council must demand Israel to end its siege of Gaza immediately

China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Zhang Jun called on the UN Security Council to take urgent measures to stop the war on Gaza Strip.

He stressed  that the Council must demand Israel to end immediately the complete blockade imposed on Gaza, and bring back water, electricity and fuel supplies to the Strip.

“In the light of the overwhelming calls from the international community, the Council must use clear and unambiguous language to demand an immediate ceasefire.” Xinhua news agency quoted Zhang as saying in a session before the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, especially in occupied Palestine.

The Chinese diplomat pointed out that the humanitarian supplies currently allowed to enter Gaza are completely insufficient, and that the Rafah crossing alone cannot fundamentally meet the humanitarian needs in Gaza.

He called  on the Israeli occupation authorities to create conditions conducive to the normal operation of the crossing, stop bombing operations on the areas surrounding it, and ensure that aid access to Gaza is not obstructed.

Zhang stressed the need for the UN Security Council to firmly defend the rule of international law, clearly condemn all acts of violence and attacks against civilians, and categorically oppose any violation of international law.
