Venezuela: The Palestinians have the right to self-determination and to live in an independent state
Venezuela’s representative to the United Nations Samuel Moncada affirmed his country’s support for the right of the Palestinian people to live in an independent, sovereign state with Al-Quds as its capital.
The Russian TASS news agency quoted Moncada as saying before the UN Security Council during the open discussion on the situation in the Middle East: “Venezuela will support all international efforts that seek to achieve a just and lasting peace to come closer to Palestine, as the time has come to implement the promises of freedom according to the United Nations Charter and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination,” calling for an “immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression and occupation.”
The Venezuelan politician also called on the Israeli occupation entity to adhere to “international law, end the siege of Gaza Strip and the forced displacement of Palestinians, stop attacking civilians and infrastructure, and allow free entering of humanitarian aid and the safe evacuation of people in need of medical assistance.”
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday called on the world to raise its voice and take action to stop the genocide of the Palestinian people, demanding the international community to hold a conference to achieve peace and establish an independent Palestinian state.
