NEW YORK, Oct.24, (ST)- UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need to bring more humanitarian aid into it to meet the increasing needs as a result of the Israeli aggression.
AFP quoted Guterres as saying during a session held today by the UN Security Council to discuss the Israeli aggression: “Nothing justifies the mass killing that is taking place in Gaza, and I repeat my call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in order to alleviate this enormous suffering, and the need to facilitate the distribution of aid in a manner content.”
Guterres expressed deep concern over the clear violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza, noting that the the Strip requires the entry of more aid to it, in addition to that the United Nations fuel stocks in Gaza will run out within days, which will lead to another disaster.
