Lavrov: Sending more weapons to the Middle East will escalate conflicts

Tehran (ST) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that the US sending more weapons and troops to the Middle East would lead to an escalation of existing conflicts.

Lavrov stated after following the meeting of foreign ministers of the “3+3” platform in Tehran: “Sending the American naval fleet to the region of conflict in the Middle East has increased the scope of the conflict, and such actions taken by America will exacerbate the existing conflict.”

On the other hand, Lavrov indicated that the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Russia and Iran has been completed by approximately 85 percent, noting that there are some specific issues that they are actively negotiating, and preparation for the new major agreement has reached an advanced stage.

It is noteworthy that the foreign ministers of the “3+3” regional platform welcomed, in their final statement, the processes of improving and developing current relations between all countries of the region and agreed to expand and strengthen the atmosphere of trust and cooperation.
