The Union of Arab Journalists condemns the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians

The General Secretariat of the Arab Journalists Union condemned the brutal crimes of the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinians, calling on the United Nations and international public opinion to intervene to halt the Israeli attacks and provide legal and political protection for the Palestinian people.

In a statement following its emergency meeting held today in Cairo, the General Secretariat stressed the need to prosecute Israeli occupation officials for all the war crimes they committed against the Palestinians

The statement renewed the position of the Union of Arab Journalists, rejecting all forms of destruction of the Palestinian cause through the policy of ethnic genocide, attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan, the killing and starving of Palestinians, and the systematic destruction of all elements of safe and decent living in Gaza and the West Bank.

The statement called for rejecting the simplification of the Palestinian issue to humanitarian aspects and ignoring its historical depth because it is an issue of occupation and usurpation of Palestinian land that requires the Palestinians’ right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital

The statement condemned the systematic Israeli targeting of journalists and the Israeli attempts to close media institutions and television channels, within the framework of the policy of restricting press freedoms

The statement called on the International Federation of Journalists to take joint action to expose these practices and put an end to them.

With regard to confronting the wave of media misinformation practiced by the Israeli and Western media, the General Secretariat decided to establish a permanent platform to reveal the facts, starting with what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank, and monitor all material and human capabilities to make it successful, with the aim of defending the ethics of the journalistic profession and coordinating the positions and procedures that must be taken in support of the Palestinians ‘rights.
