In solidarity with Palestine…  A 20-meter-long mural painted  in Homs

Based on the social responsibility of private educational institutions, and believing in the importance of  supporting  the Palestinian cause and its legitimate resistance against  the Israeli occupation, “ Al-Noukhbah” (the Elite)  Private School in Homs  implemented an initiative that included drawing a mural, entitled “Palestine Illustrated History.”

“The mural, that  was painted on the main stadium street in the Hamra neighborhood  of the city, extends 20 meters in length, on  which the history and stages of the Palestinian issue are written in Arabic and English”, according to the school’s headmistress  Alaa Tarsha.

Tarsha explained that the goal of the mural is not only to express solidarity with the people of Palestine and denounce the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the people of Gaza, but rather to introduce historical  information on  Palestine to students, and invest art to present a visual message about the Palestinian issue that affirms love and belonging to Palestine and the right of the Palestinian people to return to their land.

She  pointed out that a number of the school’s administrative and teaching staff and students  participated in drawing the mural, which was completed within four days, referring to  their belief in the necessity of introducing the Palestinian cause and the legitimate right of its people to defend their land.

Tarsha noted  that the drawing was chosen to express support for the Palestinian cause based on the importance of the  art’s role  to convey intellectual and cultural messages.

In turn, the art  teacher at the school, Abdul Rahman Haj Hassan, expressed that  that what our brothers are being exposed to in the Gaza Strip requires all Arab peoples to provide support in all its forms,  because the Palestinian issue is the issue of all Arabs, explaining that they sought  with this mural to emphasize the historical, spiritual and geographical position of Palestine for all Arabs.
