Patriarch John X condemns the Israeli bombing of a church in the Gaza Strip

The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, John X, today condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ bombing of a church in the Gaza Strip.

Patriarch John X expressed in a telephone call with Metropolitan Christoforos of Amman, according to the Lebanese National Media Agency, the solidarity of the Church of Antioch with the Jerusalem church after the sinful attack that affected the neighborhood of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Porphyrius, the third oldest church in the world.

Last night, Israeli occupation aircrafts bombed the Church of St. Porphyrius in the Zeitoun neighborhood of southern Gaza, which led to the martyrdom of a child and a woman and injured dozens . Serious material damage was caused in parts of the church, which is the third oldest church in the world.

Palestinian families have been displaced to churches and their buildings as a result of the Israeli occupation’s intensive and continuous shelling on Palestinian homes.
