Al-Mikdad receives the credentials of the new Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Syria

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad received the credentials of Muriel Mafico, the new resident representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Syria.
Al-Mikdad praised the fruitful and ongoing cooperation between Syria and the United Nations Population Fund and the many projects carried out by the Fund in the country to cooperate with the Syrian authorities, stressing that Syria will provide all facilities and support to the Fund to carry out the tasks entrusted to it to the fullest extent.
Minister Al-Mikdad reviewed the economic situation in Syria, noting the catastrophic and inhumane effects of the unilateral economic measures imposed on the country by the United States of America and Western countries, contrary to what these countries claim to be concerned with the lives and rights of civilians.
In turn, Mafico thanked the Syrian government for the facilities it provided to the Fund, and stressed the Fund’s commitment to helping the Syrian people and allocating possible resources for this purpose. The UN official expressed her aspiration to carry out her duty, along with the team working with her, to implement the tasks entrusted to the Population Fund.
