Prime Minister, Iranian ambassador in Damascus discuss ways to implement the agreements reached during President Raisi’s visit to Syria

Damascus (ST): Prime Minister Hussein Arnous discussed with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus Hussein Akbari the mechanisms for implementing the agreements and memorandums of understanding that were reached during the recent visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Syria, and his meeting with President Bashar al-Assad, according to specific time and implementation programs.

Talks centered on ways to enhance bilateral relations in the fields of industry, trade, land and railway transport, transit, oil derivatives, electric energy and tourism, and to activate cooperation in the financial, banking and insurance fields and to provide all required facilities in this field, as well as to stimulate joint work for the private sector in the two countries and establish joint projects in priority sectors for the economies of the two countries.

The Prime Minister expressed appreciation to the leadership, government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran for standing by the Syrian people in the face of the challenges and economic blockade imposed on them, stressing the Syrian government’s keenness to take all measures that contribute to pushing bilateral cooperation forward in a way that meets the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries and achieves their common interest.

For his part, the Iranian ambassador renewed his country’s position in support of Syria and its readiness to provide all capabilities to advance the Syrian economy, especially in the field of energy, stressing the necessity of making all joint efforts by the concerned authorities in the two countries to follow up on the progress of bilateral agreements and put them into implementation for the benefit of both sides.
