Arab League and African Union call on the international community to take a firm stance to stop the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip

Today, the League of Arab States and the African Union Commission called on the international community to take a firm stance towards what is happening in the Gaza Strip, to stop the humanitarian catastrophe against the Palestinian people.

The two organizations said in a joint statement today: “The United Nations and the international community must take a firm stance before it is too late, to stop a catastrophe occurring in front of everyone.”

The two organizations called for a concerted international effort to provide urgent humanitarian aid and basic materials to 2.2 million Palestinians, stressing “the urgent need to open a humanitarian corridor to provide basic aid to the population and relieve the wounded.”

The two organizations expressed their deep concern about the attempt to displace more than a million Palestinians from their homes, in violation of international law

The two organizations noted that if an Israeli ground operation is carried out, this will entail a large number of victims, which will lead to an unprecedented genocide.
