NEW YORK- A group of Syrian expatriates and a number of foreign Syria supporters have launched a campaign entitled “International Day of Fasting and Prayer for Syria” aiming to promote the culture of amity and peace among people and to enhance national unity among the Syrians.
On the idea itself, “Karin Dahabieh”, the campaign organizer, told SANA that “due to the suffering, Syria has been experiencing, we thought that we all have to pray to God to end Syria’s pains and save the country under a new era of amity and peace.”
She pointed out that the campaign was launched by a call from a number of Syrian expatriates and Syria-loving people from all over the world for a day of prayers and fasting with the aim of restoring the peace and state of amity, in which the Syrians have ever lived.
Dahabieh said that the campaign includes prayers at the churches, mosques, houses and public squares of the Syrian cities and villages and around the world through which worshipers petition God to lift the suffering of the Syrian people and help attaining peace in Syria.
“The Campaign has so far got more than 1500 participants and the number is expected to increase,” said Dahabieh, pointing out that there are many supporting parties which work to make the campaign a success.
“Syria is not merely a country, it is the cradle of civilizations and human culture, so all the Syrians should be hand in hand to defend their homeland and work for its safety and development,” the campaign organizer said.
