Russian MP: Israeli attacks on Damascus and Aleppo airports prove the terrorist approach adopted by the Israeli entity

Moscow – Member of the Defense Committee in the Russian State Duma, Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev, has stressed that the Israeli aggression that targeted Damascus and Aleppo airports proves the terrorist approach adopted by the Israeli entity.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Moscow on Saturday, Sobolev described the attack as blatant provocation and aggression that it couldn’t occur without the knowledge and sponsorship of the United States. The attack also represents the other side of the escalating Israeli violence against Gaza which serves the American goals, he said.

The Russian parliamentarian went on to say that the rapid response of the United States to the events in Gaza, and its sending of two aircraft carrier groups and huge quantities of weapons and ammunition to support Israel, indicates Washington’s desire to prolong the crisis in the Middle East, pointing out that what is happening in the region falls within the framework of dangerous escalation.

He clarified that “Russia will take a firm position in all the political, diplomatic and even military aspects, given that what Israel is doing in Gaza, including imposing a deadly siege against civilian citizens, uprooting them from their land and forcing them to leave Gaza Strip, constitutes a clear war crime and a racist practice against humanity, which is a disgusting behavior.
