Moscow: The Security Council’s inability to condemn the terrorist attack in Homs is evidence of double standards
The Russian Foreign Ministry denounced the double standards of Western countries and their allies who are members of the UN Security Council after they refused to condemn the terrorist attack that targeted the Military College in the city of Homs.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “Russian representatives in the UN Security Council called on other member countries of the United Nations to issue a general press statement condemning the bloody terrorist act at the Military College in Homs, and expressing condolences to the families of the victims and the injured.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that this initiative, which is a normal practice in the Council, was rejected by several delegations.
The Russian Foreign Ministry explained that it had become clear that the Western Troika-the United States, Britain and France – in addition to its allies – Albania, Malta and Japan-seemed incapable of condemning this terrorist act.
The Russian Foreign Ministry added: “The secretariat of the United Nations also acted in this way, and its Secretary-General Anthony Guterres and his envoy to Syria were satisfied.
The Russian Foreign Ministry concluded that, as a result, the Security Council, called to address issues of international peace and security, was once again unable to express a unified reaction to what happened in Syria, noting that the devastating earthquake on February 6 also passed without a reaction.
