DAMASCUS, (ST)- Directorate of Agricultural Guidance at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform has mapped out a vision for the development of guidance work in 2014 as a fundamental in achieving agricultural development.
In this context, the Director of Guidance, Jamal Farroukh confirmed the need of full cooperation and coordination with the General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research being the primary means to solve problems, as well as agricultural cooperation and continuous communication with farmers.
“The Directorate aims, through its vision to deploy services of guidance at local levels and strengthen institutional functional relationship at all levels which include support for continuous training of agricultural guides and identify their training needs and to strengthen the relationship between the agricultural guidance and scientific research, whereas agricultural guidance can adopt all agricultural technologies and follow-up in finding solutions to the problems of agricultural field by involving farmers,” Mr. Farroukh pointed out.
“The agricultural guidance will work in 2014 to follow up on the problems through agricultural guidance units, support research centers and the relevant authorities and through the development of plans and integrated policies at the central level in order to be sent to supporting units to be implemented,” Mr. Farroukh added.
One of the points that will be highlighted during the current year is the cooperation with educational institutions and agricultural universities on the grounds that they have a technical guiding staff capable of enhancing agricultural guidance and achieving its objectives through the Department of Agricultural guidance at the University of Damascus.
In the area of training and information, Mr. Farroukh explained that a technical program was mapped out for the implementation of training courses for the year 2014 focuses on the training of technicians in guidance units as well as the establishment of intensive training courses on the use of the media and photography
