DAMASCUS,(ST)_The Armenian Orthodox community that follows the Julian calendar has celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ.
Several Masses were held on Monday all over the country to mark Christmas and sermons stressed that Syria will achieve victory over the conspiracy.
At St. Sarkis Church for the Armenian Orthodox Parish of Damascus, Archbishop Armash Nalbandian prayed for peace and the return of the abductees and the recovery of the wounded in Syria.
He said: “Last year, Syria faced a difficult year during which a lot of citizens were kidnapped, displaced and martyred. We were able to endure the difficulties and to gain faithful friendship as well as to help the poor.”
The Archbishop wondered why children are being targeted, referring to the school students killed during the 34-month-old crisis.
Syria is facing a foreign-backed terrorism targeting citizens, army and the country’s infrastructure. Dozens of churches and mosques were destroyed by the armed terrorist groups nationwide.
