Lavrov: The West’s aggressive policies are the reason for the exacerbation of the risk of a global conflict
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned today of eruptions of a global conflict, due to the crises provoked by the aggressive Western policies.
Tass quoted Lavrov as saying in an article entitled “Adherence to the principles of the UN Charter is the key to international peace and stability”: “The West’s aggressive approach, based on narrow self-interests, has caused a serious crisis in international relations, where the risks of a global conflict are increasing”.
Lavrov stressed the importance of “everyone realizing the responsibility for the fate of the world in the historical context and not based on the narrow interests of countries and those declared by governments in national elections. This is the solution to the possibility of a way out from the current crisis, explaining that the signing of the United Nation Charter by world leaders more than 70 years ago means their agreement to respect equality among all countries and their recognition of the importance of a global system with equal rights for all and a polycentric system that guarantees the development of humanity in light of global stability and security.
He pointed out to the need to ensure the “implementation of the spirit of multipolarity stipulated in the UN Charter in the light of the desire of the majority of countries in the world to strengthen their sovereignty, defend their national interests, culture and way of life and not live according to the dictates of any party, but rather establishing friendly and economic relations for mutual benefit,” recalling that this is what prevailed among the participants during the recent summits of the BRICS countries, the G20, and the East Asia Summit.
