Syrian-Iranian Scientific, Research Cooperation Boosted

TEHRAN,(ST)_ Iran ‘s Minister of Science and Research Reza Faraji Dana discussed with the Syrian ambassador to Iran , Dr. Adnan Mahmoud yesterday means of expanding areas of scientific and research cooperation between institutions and universities concerned in the two countries .
Talks also dealt with drawing an executive work program for scientific cooperation to meet Syria ‘s needs of scholarships and run scientific research courses for Syrian university professors in Iranian universities and linking production and scientific knowledge between educational institutions in Syria and Iran.
The two sides agreed to increase scholarships for students of master’s and doctorate in medical and scientific specialties from 45 to 90 , as the Iranian ministry showed readiness to train Syrian universities professors and provide 200 scholarships toundergraduate students annually in various quality specialization .
Minister Faraji Dana stressed that the Iranian Ministry of Science will spare no effort to support the Syrian higher education sector , because the terrorist war against Syria targeted culture, science and educational institutions as one of the basic pillars of development .
He condemned the crimes committed by terrorist groups backed by Western countries and some regional countries against the Syrian people , institutions and infrastructure .
Ambassador Mahmoud held countries in the region , including Turkey , Saudi Arabia and Western countries that feed terrorism in Syria responsible for the brutal crimes against the Syrian people and the destruction of Syrian scientific, economic and cultural institutions.
