Codathon project concluded in Lattakia by honoring the top three teams

The closing event of “Codathon” project, which is the first technical event of its kind in Syria, included honoring the winners  of the top three places out of 100 ambitious young students from technical specializations, workers in the technical sector and starting  companies in addition to young innovators of  the local community who competed to provide the best innovative solutions to address the problem of traffic congestion.

The Secretary of Al-Manara University, Dr. Muthanna Al-Qoubaili, referred to the university’s endeavor to achieve the necessary scientific, educational and cultural goals, and to contribute to the process of building a society whose members are characterized by a distinguished scientific level that enhances their self- confidence,  identity and skills.

He added: “Linking higher education with the work process of the community at the economic, cultural, and social level at the university in particular and in Syria in general falls within the university’s basic priorities and aspirations.

In turn, Engineer Mariam  Fayoud, head of Lattakia’s branch of the Syrian Computer Society SCS confirmed in a statement to the Syriatimes e-newspaper that the society  keeps up with all the events related to informatics in the country.  Participation in this event is a win in the literal sense of the word, as presenting creative ideas, programming them, and making them a practical, executable application is a true embodiment of excellence”.

For his part, Junior Makhoul, president  of the Board of Directors of  Junior Chamber International JCI-Lattakia  for the year 2023 told Syriatimes  “Our approach to launching the Codethon project stems from our observation of the lack of a community that innovates new solutions to confront crises in light of the problems of the learning environment and information exchange in the programming scope within the local community.

The winners expressed their happiness in participating in this experience, which is completely new for them as they are looking for a solution to a societal problem that they are living in reality.

It is noteworthy that the competition launched by the JCI-Lattakia and the SCS branch in Lattakia witnessed wide participation from Syrian teams and others participated online from the JCI of Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia.
