The General Federation of Trade Unions signs two cooperation agreements with the Belarus and Iranian Trade Unions

On September 30th, the Chairman of General Federation of Trade Unions in Syria Jamal Al-Qadiri signed two cooperation agreements with the trade unions in Belarus and Iran during his visit to the two countries.

The agreement with the Trade Unions in Belarus stipulates the exchange of trade union experiences, especially in issues of climate change and the global trend to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and the necessity of a just transition towards a green economy.

The General Federation of Belarusian Trade Unions condemned the blockade policies and unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States of America and the West on Syria.

During the visit, Al-Qadri discussed with the Chairman of the Belarusian Trade Unions, Mikhail Orda, relations of cooperation between the two countries.

Qadri stressed that the Syrian people were able to defeat the forces of darkness and terrorism, and today they face an economic siege imposed by the United States of America and its agents.

On the sidelines of the visit, Al-Qadri also held an expanded quadripartite meeting that included, in addition to the Chairman of the Belarusian Trade Union, the Chairman of the Trade Unions in Egypt, Mohamed Gibran, and the Chairman Trade Unions in the Commonwealth of Independent States, Alexander Korchagin.

The meeting participants agreed on the necessity of not politicizing the work of international organizations, especially the International Labor Organization, which recently imposed sanctions against Belarus in clear violation of the objectives of the organization on which it was founded.

In another visit to Tehran, the Syrian trade union delegation, in the presence of the Syrian Ambassador to Iran, Dr. Shafiq Dayoub, discussed with the Iranian Minister of Cooperation, Labor and Social Prosperity, Sault Mortazavi, cooperation between the two countries, especially in the labor field.

Al-Qadri presented the situation in Syria and the current challenges facing the Syrian economy as a result of the terrorist war and the blockade policy pursued by the United States and its agents from Western countries, and the steps currently underway to amend the current labor law.

In turn, Mortazavi stressed that developing and strengthening relations between the two brotherly peoples of Iran and Syria is a major goal of the Iranian government.

The Syrian delegation also discussed with the Head of the Union of Workers’ Representatives in Iran, Muhammad Yarahmadian, and the heads of labor unions in the Iranian provinces, prospects for cooperation between the two friendly unions in the fields of exchanging union visits, training, tourism, and coordinating at the level of international union forums.

The union delegation visited Milad Hospital in Tehran, which is considered one of the largest hospitals, owned by workers and includes all modern and advanced medical services.
