Palestinians in occupied territories of 1948 commemorate Al-Aqsa Intifada

Occupied Al-Quds – Thousands of Palestinians in the occupied territories of 1948 on Saturday commemorated the 23rd Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Intifada (uprising) through organizing a massive demonstration in the city of Sikhnin. Palestinians from different cities and villages took part in the demonstration.

SANA correspondent in the occupied territories said that the demonstrators toured the city’s streets lifting the Palestinian flags and pictures of the 13 martyrs who were killed by the occupation 23 years ago. The demonstrators also chanted slogans condemning the Israeli occupation and its crimes against the Palestinians, stressing their determination to confront the Zionist schemes.

The demonstrators stressed that the occupation practices that sparked “Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa uprising” have escalated, especially in recent years, in the light of the occupation authorities’ insistence on escalating settlement building operations and intensifying attacks on occupied Al-Quds, mainly the Islamic and Christian holy sites and repeating attempts to uproot The Palestinians in Al-Quds from their historical neighborhoods. The demonstrators pointing to the necessity of continuing the struggle and steadfastness to thwart the occupation’s plans to Judaize Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa, which is an entirely Islamic Mosque.

23 years ago, the Palestinians in Al-Jalil, the villages in the “Triangle”, Negev and Al-Karmel announced a general strike after the Israeli war criminal Ariel Sharon, under the protection 2000 Israeli soldiers, stormed into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque which angered the Palestinians and led to the uprising in which 13 Palestinians were martyred.
