Short film “Photograph” wins the silver award at the Hurghada Youth Film Festival in Egypt 

The Syrian short feature film “Photograph,” directed by film director Muhannad Kulthum and produced by the General Cinema Foundation, won the silver award at the Hurghada Youth Film Festival in its first edition, which concluded its activities yesterday evening in Hurghada, Egypt.

Twenty short films from several countries competed for the official short film competition awards, including – in addition to Syria – Egypt, Japan, China, Brazil, Nigeria, Tanzania, England, Switzerland, Portugal, Slovakia, Sudan and Kuwait.

The events of the film revolve around the effects of the Syrian war and its aftermaths on Syrian children and how they were forced to give up their right in education to work as to financially support their families. It also talks about the repercussions of the crisis and the human struggle for survival.

The film is scripted by Bouthaina Naissa and stars artists Suleiman Al-Ahmad, Ghaleb Shandouba, Jamal Al-Ali, Sufouh Mimas and Etab Abu Saada.

The film’s team includes production director Khaled Al-Ahmad, photography director Muhammad Matar, lighting supervisor Jamal Matar, editing and graphics supervisor Noureddine Al-Kurdi, music by Khaled Rizk, executive director Ali Al-Maghout, scenographer Salam Husseino, script Rahaf Khadour, sound Hassan Koksh, photographer Muhannad Bayda, public relations Fater Suleiman, makeup by Mazen Saboura and Clacket Hala Laham, finally clothes are by Sameh Hadaqi.
