Beijing (ST): An injury prevented the Syrian Olympic weightlifter Maan Asaad from participating in the weightlifting competitions in the 19th Asian Games held in Khanzhou, China.
The champion, Maan Asaad, submitted an official apology through the Weightlifting Federation to the Syrian Olympic Committee for participating in the tournament, noting that Maan Asaad recently attended the World Championships in Saudi Arabia, without participating in its competitions due to shoulder pain.
Syria will participate in the tournament in equestrian, boxing, wrestling, and athletics competitions. In the athletics competitions, Majd al-Din Ghazal will represent the country in the high jump at the beginning of next month, while Ahmed Ghosoun and Muhammad Melis represent Syria in boxing, Omar Sarem and Yanal Barazi in wrestling, and Ahmed Hamsho and Amr Hamsho in the equestrian events.
