With active and distinguished Syrian participation, the activities of the Baghdad International Book Fair launched

Baghdad (ST): The activities of the twenty-fourth session of the Baghdad International Book Fair were launched in the Iraqi capital with active and distinguished Syrian participation, represented by twenty publishing houses from among 15 Arab and foreign countries, in which they displayed their latest publications in the fields of literature, arts, science, history, politics, philosophy, religions, children’s literature, and others.

In an interview with news correspondent in Baghdad, Iraqi writers and researchers expressed their delight at the qualitative and distinguished Syrian cultural, creative, and intellectual presence, stressing that “Syria is still at the forefront of the Arab cultural and enlightenment scene despite the fierce aggressive conspiracies it is exposed to.”

In turn, the head of the Iraqi Publishers Union and the head of the exhibition’s organizing committee, Dr. Abdul Wahab Al-Radi, stressed that Syria has a special love in the hearts of Iraqis, pointing out that “the Iraqi people are very close to the Syrian people, and the matter applies to the governments of the two brotherly countries.”

Al-Radi added that “it is very important in every session of the exhibition that there be Syrian participation, and we, as an organizing committee, are proud of this participation, which enriches the Fair with the products of Syrian creators and thinkers, which have a great impact on the Iraqi reader.”

For his part, the poet and director Dr. Jabbar al-Mashhadani, a member of the Fair’s organizing committee, said: “Damascus, Baghdad and Cairo are the pillars of Arab culture in ancient times and in the present, and therefore the great role of Damascus in the history of Arab and Islamic civilization and even humanity cannot be overlooked in any way.”
