New York (ST): Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed in his speech before the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly that Algeria will not abandon support for just causes, most notably the Palestinian cause.
The Algerian news agency WAG quoted Tebboune as saying: “The international community has a legal and moral responsibility to enable the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital,” calling on the Security Council “to issue a resolution to stop unilateral decisions by “Israel” and its settlement activities and to convene an extraordinary General Assembly of the United Nations, to grant the State of Palestine full membership in the United Nations.”
Tebboune renewed his support for the efforts of the United Nations to find a political solution in Libya, led by the Libyans themselves and guaranteeing the territorial integrity and sovereignty of their country. He also stressed the importance of “giving priority to the language of dialogue and ending the fighting in Sudan.”
