Damascus (ST): The Syrian feature film “Joseph’s Journey” by director Jude Said won the Golden Award at the eighth Taranto International Film Festival in Italy.
The film was produced by the General Film Corporation and directed by Joud Saeed, who co-wrote the script with Wissam Kanaan.
The film stars the distinguished artist Ayman Zidan, Ruba Al-Halabi, Samer Omran, Serena Muhammad, Wael Zidan, Wael Abu Shaar, Jawad Al-Saeed, Ahmed Al-Darwish, and Hayyan Baddour.
The film depicts the journey of a grandfather carrying his grandson in search of a lost hope for a better life. It revolves around Joseph’s family, which insists on living in Syria despite the war, but at some point they are forced to flee the country and take refuge in one of the camps near Lebanon, waiting for a better opportunity to win life and love.
The director says about his film: At a time when many Syrians left for a country of asylum for fear of war, Joseph and his family left for fear of love, without knowing what the days had in store for them in the new country.
It is noteworthy that the film opened its participation at the Cairo Film Festival, won the Screenplay Award at the Casablanca Arab Film Festival, and won the Best Screenplay Award in the Feature Narrative Film Competition, at the 4th session of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival. It also participated in the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival, which was held early this month. Next month, the film will be present at the Brussels Arab Film Festival, Barcelona, and the FAMIC in France.”
