Tehran-(ST) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian affirmed that his country is determined to protect its national security. He welcomed Iraq’s efforts to evacuate and transfer the terrorist groups and disarm them.
Abdullahian on Wednesday said in a press conference with his Iraqi counterpart, Fouad Hussein: Iraq will implement all the provisions of the security agreement, stressing that Iraq enjoys a very special position in the Iranian foreign policy system based on the distinguished ties between the two countries.
He said that terrorism harms security in Iran and Iraq, and within the framework of the current agreement, it must be removed from the existing relations between the two countries.
Abdullahian pointed out that cooperation exists strongly in various cultural, economic, scientific and industrial fields, allowing the two countries.
For his part, Hussein said: The visit has several objectives including discussing the security agreement, as the road map has been determined in this regard. He stressed his country’s commitment to this ageement and its attempt to reach the disarmament of terrorist groups on the borders between Iran and Iraq.
Hussein indicated that the Iraqi constitution does not allow any group to use Iraqi territories to attack other countries. He added that the issue of security cooperation between Iraq and Iran is based on this constitution.
