From simple materials, most of them are recycled items, Huda Belto makes cloth dolls and displays them at the handicraft pavilion in the 43rd international Flower Show currently held at Tishreen Park in Damascus.
“Participating in exhibitions and bazaars is an opportunity to promote the products of artisans, which are characterized by accurate hand-making. The flower show is a space that combined the beauty of nature with the products of artisans from various professions” Huda told SANA.
She stressed “we were keen to introduce artisans’ products to visitors and sell them at reasonable prices.”
At the same pavilion, Samah Hassoun, who displays a collection of embroidered handbags made from recycled fabrics, explained that her participation aims to market her products on the one hand and encourage visitors to use leftover fabrics to make useful things, on the other.
She pointed out that this project has supported her financial income that helped her improve her living situation.
The young participant Ibrahim Franji managed to display small models made of colored gypsum to introduce his small project and encourage young people to enter this field.
Kholoud Al-Jarad, who participated through displaying scented candles, explaining that she learned this craft through social media and wants to develop it to be her future project.
In addition, Mahmoud Al-Sayed displayed his products, including vessels and antiques made of pottery, stressing that these products witnessed a big turning out because they are healthy on the one hand and characterized by a heritage aesthetic on the other hand.
Engineer Rola Zawahra viewed the flower show as an opportunity to introduce medicinal creams made of natural materials, noting that this work has become a family project in which she shares the work with her husband and children.
