DAMASCUS- The deeply-rooted Strategic relations between Syria and Iran require the enhancement of joint cooperation, coordination and integration to strengthen the axis of resistance in the confrontation of challenges facing the region, stressed Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi.
During his meeting on Sunday with Rostam Qasemi, the Secretary of the Iranian-Syrian Economic Relations Committee, al-Halqi affirmed the need to eliminate obstacles facing trade, economic and industrial cooperation between Syria and Iran and to facilitate the access of the Iranian products to the Syrian markets in order to meet the Syrian citizens needs, particularly for supply materials and oil derivates.
Talks during the meeting focused on ways of reactivating cooperation in the domains of health, oil, electric energy and transport. The possibility of carrying out joint Syrian-Iranian development projects, in addition to Iranian companies’ future participation in the reconstruction process in Syria were also discussed.
“The signed agreements should be reactivated and new agreements will hopefully be signed to boost bilateral ties so as to cope with the growing strategic political relations between the two countries,” said al-Halqi.
He hailed Iran’s support and solidarity with Syria and stressed that Syria will soon emerge victorious thanks to the achievements attained by the Syrian Arab Army nationwide in its battle against the foreign-backed terrorists and mercenaries.
For his part, Qasemi, who expressed confidence that Syria and the axis of resistance will achieve victory, reiterated Iran’s support for Syria and its keenness to help the Syrians withstand the crisis, describing this support as “a moral and strategic duty”.
