Zakharova: Contacts between Moscow and Pyongyang against the backdrop of geopolitical changes in the world are important

Moscow (ST): Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed today that the talks between the leaders of the Russian Federation and the DPRK against the backdrop of the geopolitical changes taking place in the world are important.

The RT website quoted Zakharova as saying in press statements: “Geopolitical changes do not only occur theoretically, but they have concrete broad lines, such as the interaction demonstrated by the G20, the expansion of the BRICS group, the processes of eliminating the dollar in the world, and the transition to payments in national currencies as a way out of crises.”

Zakharova added: “Against this background, bilateral contacts between Moscow and Pyongyang are very important, and there is no doubt that the situation in the Korean Peninsula is extremely important for security and stability in the region.”

DPRK leader Kim Jong Un is visiting Russia for the first time since 2019. He arrived yesterday and met with President Vladimir Putin and a number of Russian officials.
