Sabbagh stresses the need to strengthen fraternal relations with Tunisia

Damascus (ST): Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Syria, Muhammad bin Al-Bashir Al-Mahdhabi, on the occasion of the start of his duties as his Tunisia’s ambassador to Damascus.

Sabbagh stressed the depth and strength of the fraternal historical relations between Syria and Tunisia, and the necessity of working to strengthen and advance them in all fields, especially the parliamentary ones in terms of exchanging visits and benefiting from the experiences of the two countries, and forming two fraternal committees in the Syrian People’s Assembly and the Tunisian People’s Assembly that work to coordinate and unify positions in conferences and international forums.

Sabbagh talked about the occupation of parts of Syrian lands and the plundering of its wealth and resources by the United States of America and its allies and tools in the region, stressing the continued adherence to belonging to Arabism and the continuation of steadfastness in the face of all challenges until the final victory over terrorism is achieved.

For his part, Ambassador Al-Mahdhabi stressed his country’s position in support of Syria and its just causes, based on the unity of national affiliation of the two countries, and the importance of working to develop and strengthen fraternal relations in the parliamentary, cultural, economic and other fields in a way that achieves the common benefit and serves the interest of the brotherly Syrian and Tunisian peoples. He appreciated Syria’s positions in support of Tunisia and its sovereignty during past years.
