60 companies are taking part in the 16th session of “SILA International Shoes and Leather Exhibition”

DAMASCUS, Sep.12, (ST)- Today, the 16th session of The “SILA International Shoes and Leather Exhibition” [Autumn – Winter”] kicked off in the new fair city in Damascus.

Some 60 local and Arab companies are taking part in the four-day event, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The Minister of Industry, Abdul Qadir Joukhadar, told reporters that the diversity of leather products being shown by public and private companies that are participating in the exhibition proves the strength and quality of the Syrian product and that the Syrian production and industry has been restored to its glory after the years of war.

He indicated that the Arab participation and hundreds of Arab visitors will lead to expand the horizons of promoting the Syrian product abroad and concluding export contracts and agreements with friendly companies.

For his part, the president of the Arab Federation for Leather Industries, Tariq Al-Tamimi, praised the Syrian efforts to support the establishment of this exhibition and its success, and the facilities provided to Syrian and Arab industrialists.

The Secretary-General of the Federation, Sharif Al-Hassan, referred to the progress achieved by the Syrian industry despite all the difficult circumstances that Syria is going through, indicating that work is underway to develop a plan to hold similar exhibitions abroad.

The head of the group that is organizing the event, Khalaf Mashhadani, said that each session differs from the previous ones in terms of the multiplicity of participants and the diversity of products.
