A reception held in Damascus on the occasion of the 74th Foundation Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China

Damascus (ST): The Chinese Embassy in Damascus held a reception on the occasion of the 74th foundation anniversary of the People’s Republic of China at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Mikdad, indicated in a speech that the history of Syrian-Chinese relations is deep, stressing Syria’s full support for China and the unity of its land and people, in addition to the initiatives it launched to achieve development, peace and global civilization, especially the Belt and Road Initiative.

Al-Mikdad praised China’s position towards Syria, which has been exposed to many challenges and difficulties as a result of the Western aggression on it, referring to China’s active role in global decisions and policies, and in helping the peoples of the Arab world, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Al-Mikdad indicated that China did not allow the United States of America to pass its colonial projects, as it used the right of veto in the Security Council several times to defend Syria.

He pointed out that the losses incurred by the oil and gas sectors in Syria exceeded 115 billion dollars, as a result of terrorism and theft by the United States of America and its puppet tools at the expense of the Syrian people’s living. He stressed that Western countries are the cause of the economic crisis that Syria is going through and the suffering of its people.

Al-Mikdad reviewed the Chinese aid to Syria, including vaccines, food, and transport buses, in addition to clothes, tents, medicines, food, prefabricated housing units, and other urgent rescue materials after the devastating earthquake that struck Syria last February.

In turn, Chinese Ambassador Shi Hongwei affirmed that the historical friendship between China and Syria is deep, and the two countries firmly support their core interests, and there is mutual political trust.

Hongwei renewed his country’s support for Syria to preserve its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and for the policies and measures taken by the Syrian government in order to preserve the country’s security, stability and development. He stressed his country’s rejection of external forces interference in Syria’s internal affairs that aim at undermining the country’s security and stability, and China’s rejection of any illegal military presence in Syria. He called for an end to the plundering of Syria’s natural resources and the immediate lifting of all unilateral and illegitimate sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.
