On September 10th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, met with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria, Geir Pedersen, and his accompanying delegation.

The two sides discussed the latest developments related to his mission.

In turn, Minister Al-Miqdad explained the basic challenges facing Syria, represented by the catastrophic effects left by terrorism and illegal unilateral coercive measures on the humanitarian and economic situation in Syria and on the lives of Syrians, especially after the devastating earthquake that struck Syria on the sixth of last February.

He referred to the continued American and Turkish illegal presence on Syrian territory, and the American forces’ continued plunder of the wealth and capabilities of the Syrian people in a flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, international law, and international humanitarian law.
