International Flowers Festival in Damascus brings beekeepers, horticulturist and customers together   

The 43rd International Festival of Flowers, which is being held at the “ Tishreen” park in Damascus brings beekeepers and horticulturists together. It also opens a window for beekeepers to talk to their consumers directly.
The beekeeper Khuzama Jabai from Sweida governorate is keen on taking part in this festival every year.

“ I always try to show my new products besides spring and thistle honey. This year I produced biscuits sweetened with honey and a mixture of black seed, serge oil, and honey which tastes similar to that of halva,” she told Syria Times e-newspaper.

For her part, Nour Al Rashi from Damascus governorate told us: “ Its is my second participation in a such event and  I exhibit here honey products……This event is a good opportunity for me to promote my products.”

Muhammad Hassan from Lebanon said that he likes to be briefed on what is new in Syria to convey the idea to  his country, and at the same time he conveys the ideas that could be implemented  in the agricultural sector to Syria.

” During the festival,  we discuss with our Syrian brothers the situation of bees in the Arab world, especially in Lebanon and Syria, because we enjoy the same climate,” he added.

Ayoub Ajaj indicated that he is participating in the festival for the second time, and he manufactures all types of wooden hives in several shapes and wooden boxes for storing honey, while Majdi Khalifa said that he is participating in this event to display his products for beekeepers such as clothes and protective tools,  mesh masks and natural leather paws. All his products are made from  locally produced cotton materials and fabrics.
