Zakharova: Pentagon’s statements on  the non-danger of  depleted uranium shells are false

Foreign  Ministry  spokeswoman  Maria Zakharova said on her Telegram channel in  response  to Pentagon’s statements  that depleted uranium  shells do not pose any radiation danger : “Is this a lie or foolishness? “There is a lot of information about the toxicity of depleted uranium and its danger to the human body due to radioactive dust, as well as contamination of the soil with radionuclides.”

She  pointed to an increase in the incidence of tumors in places where depleted uranium ammunition is present  adding  : “This is something that NATO soldiers tried on themselves without knowing the effects, in addition to the Italian military during the NATO aggression on Yugoslavia,”.

The Russian spokeswoman  pointed out that out of 7,500 people exposed to the influence of toxic substances and radiation, 372 people died and the death rate is 5 percent.

Zakharova continued: “According to the data of the Serbian Ministry of Health, the areas that have been bombed and hit by NATO are recording a significant increase in the incidence of a number of diseases, namely tumors, male infertility, autoimmune diseases, pregnancy complications and mental disorders in children.

The Pentagon announced yesterday  that  a new military aid package was provided to the Ukrainian regime worth $ 175 million, which included for the first time the depleted uranium shells of Abrams’ tanks

For his part, Chairman of the International Affairs Committee in the State Duma Leonid Slutsky said  “The cluster munitions and depleted uranium shells that were transferred to Ukraine have not and will not help change the policy  of the special operation,” .

He added “The Anglo-Saxon policy of containing Russia has reached the death stage  and all previous Western  military aid packages have been largely canceled.”
