Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemns Papua New Guinea’s opening of its embassy in occupied Al- Quds

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Papua New Guinea’s opening of its embassy in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem).

The Foreign Ministry said in a press statement that this decision is a blatant violation of international law and UN resolutions regarding the Holy City, its legal and political status, and the just rights of the Palestinian people, at a time when the occupation authorities are escalating their violations and aggression against the Palestinian people, their land, property, and sanctities.

The Foreign Ministry affirmed that it will continue to work to address the positions of countries that opened embassies in Al-Quds (Jerusalem) or transferred their embassies there, by taking sufficient political, diplomatic and legal measures, and called on the government of Papua New Guinea to immediately retract this decision.

It said the decision is an unacceptable normalization with the occupation and a blatant defiance of relevant United Nations resolutions at a time when the occupation is escalating its violations and aggression against the Palestinian people, their homeland, property and holy places.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that it will continue to confront the stances of the countries that opened embassies in Al-Quds or transferred their embassies there through taking political, diplomatic and legal means for their unjustified aggression against the Palestinian people and their rights, calling on the government of Papua New Guinea to immediately retract this decision.
