Asghar Khaji, Pederson discuss developments in Syria

On September 4th, a senior adviser to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji and the UN Chief’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on Monday held video talks that focused on developments in Syria.

The two sides affirmed the necessity of resolving the crisis in Syria through political dialogue, resolving humanitarian issues and the return of refugees.

Asghar Khaji pointed to the economic situation of the Syrian people, stressing the need to lift the unfair sanctions imposed on Syria as soon as possible, stop looting its natural resources and providing international aid to the country.

Asghar Khaji expressed his hope that the United Nations and the High Commissioner for Refugees and the countries that want to solve the crisis in Syria will help Syrian refugees return to their country by providing humanitarian aid.
