Putin: Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity should be preserved

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stressed that Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity must be preserved, and the Syrian people are the ones who are entitled to decide the future of their country away from any external dictates.

During a joint press conference with President of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyib Erdogan in Sochi on Monday, Putin said “we discussed the political settlement in Syria and cooperation within the framework of the Astana format, which is the most effective formula. I affirm that the main option to solve the crisis is to preserve  Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and to leave the Syrian people to decide the future of their country without any foreign interference”.
