The 50th Extraordinary conference of the Federation of the Arab Institution in Latin America Countries was launched today at Damascus University.
In a statement by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad he stressed that the conference constitutes an essential lever along with nationalist efforts of the countries of expatriation and it forms a bridge in enhancing communication with the aim of explaining the reality of what is happening in Syria, contrary to what is promoted by the Western media.
The conference included a speech by the Deputy Minister of the Foreign Affair and Expatriates, Dr. Ayman Soussan, through which he expressed Syria’s appreciation for the Federation’s positions on the crucial issues of the Arab nation and its principled and firm position of standing by Syria in face of American policy.
In an interview by Syriatimes with Member of People Assembly and Chairman of the Syrian Argentine Friendship Committee in the People Assembly, Faisal Jammoul, pointed to the importance of holding this conference in strengthening the relationship of our sons abroad and the members of the Arab community who form the FEARAB, with their mother country, Syria, and encouraging them to help their country open new economic relations in light of the unjust siege imposed on the Syrian people by some countries.
He stressed that the members of the Syrian committee in Latin America are closely linked to their homeland and seek to be part of its assistance in lifting the siege on their people.
We asked Jammoul about the role of expatriates in participating in the reconstruction of Syria and he said: Syria needs capital and investors in order to start the investment process, and the Syrian state has introduced many laws that help in investment. Our sons abroad are mostly investors and they can help their country and revive the economy.
Syriatimes interviewed with the Advisor to the head of the Federation of the Arab Institution in Latin America Countries, Claude Hajjar. She said: ” we came here to say with the voice of South and Central America to the world that we would remain and resist all kinds of hatred and conspiracy against Syria which was able to resist 110 countries and defeated them thanks to its people, army and leadership. Our presence is nothing more than solidarity with the Syrian people to tell them that we are with you.”
On the economic level, Hajjar confirmed that the economic issue and sanctions are an important focus in this conference, so a group of businessmen attended with us to the conference to encourage them to invest in Syria. We hope that Syria will issue laws to help expatriate investors return and open investment projects in Syria.
