Kanaani: US forces should withdraw from Syria as soon as possible

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani has stressed that the presence of the US forces in Syria is illegal as it contradicts peace, security and international laws and causes instability and insecurity in the country.

These forces should withdraw from Syria as soon as possible in accordance with the international law and the will of the Syrian people, Kanaani said in his weekly briefing on Monday.

He added that the interference of the foreign forces in Syria and their support for terrorist organizations are behind the crisis in the country, pointing out that the unfair US sanctions have exacerbated the suffering of the Syrian people.

Concerning the presence of armed terrorist groups in northern Iraq, Kanaani said that the Iraqi government stressed its commitment to disarming the terrorist groups and transfer them from this area based on the agreement concluded by the two sides.
